Local Artist Interview

JERYL PALAÑA

Where are you from?(ethnically)

I am a first generation Filipino American. Both of my parents immigrated from the Philippines, and I was born here in Boston.

What’s your background in Dance?

I received my early dance training at my local dance studio, where I learned a foundation of ballet, tap, jazz and musical theater. I then majored in dance at Dean College where I submerged myself in modern, hip hop and dance composition. I soon found my love for floorwork and learning about the culture behind all these dances.

What inspires you?

Human behavior,

What are currently working on?

As a teaching artist, it’s easy for me to put my own art second, so I’m currently working on giving my artistry the space and nourishment

it needs to grow. This includes creating new work on stage and on film through my company Art UnEarths.

and Where can we find your work?

Instagram for now :)
